Ana
Miralles is a female Catalan painter who has been inspired by her
native land, and by her visits to museums (Spanish and foreign) where
she has found stimulus and answers to her artistic restlessness. The
first influences on her were the abstract and color of Zobel and the
forms of Frankethales. Neither of these artists, however, left a lasting
or marked influence on her. Since then, she has become interested
in painting things close to her, such as realistic landscapes and
her no less remarkable still lifes (resembling those of Monardi) in
which everyday items (china pots, bottles, a glass, a withered flower)
are transformed through her artistic flair and intuitive wit, poetic
and almost dream-like. This is how the painter represents the essence
of those things closest to us.
